Exquisite Persian Manuscripts in Kazakh Science Library

During an official visit to the Noor International Microfilm Center, President of Kazakh Academy of Sciences Olar Mukazhanov, along with deputies and a delegation of academic members of the National Archives and Library Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran emphasized the need to develop bilateral cooperation in the fields of cataloguing, restoration, and preservation of manuscripts and historical documents.

Hawzah News Agency- In this meeting, experts from the Noor Center's cataloguing and restoration departments exchanged views and Olar Mukazhanov also expressed his satisfaction with this opportunity and stated,” The Kazakh Academy of Sciences will gladly benefit from the valuable expertise and experiences of the Noor International Microfilm Center. Referring to the significance of preserving written heritage, he expressed hope that prominent experts from the Noor Center will play an effective role in holding specialized training courses and training skilled personnel in the fields of cataloguing and restoration for that collection by sending them to Kazakhstan.

The President of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences, emphasizing the need for the Noor Center to supervise and implement cataloging and restoration projects for the Academy's manuscripts and historical documents, noted, "The international reputation of Noor International Microfilm Center and the initiatives of Dr. Mehdi Khajeh Piri in devising new methods of restoration and preventive conservation have made this center an unparalleled reference in this field, and benefiting from this capacity for the Kazakh Academy of Sciences is an urgent matter."

Referring to the richness of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences collection with more than 150,000 volumes of books, the majority of which are manuscripts in the Persian, Arabic, and Turkish languages, Mukazhanov described this valuable treasure as a suitable platform for the development of historical and cultural studies. He also made requests regarding restoration, exchange of books and files, as well as providing specialized solutions in the field of optimal preservation and maintenance of this collection.

Expressing gratitude for the hosting of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Olar Mukazhanov stated, “The friendly relations between Iran and Kazakhstan have provided the basis for deepening bilateral cooperation, and this visit can be considered a turning point in expanding these interactions.”
